Dear friend,
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing
some difficulties with writing your academic paper. I have some experience in
writing academically, and I would be glad if my tips could be of any help.
My first tip I would like to give you is that
you should keep in mind what audience you’re writing to and use the correct
register. In academic you should always use formal language. In example you
should never use contractions, such as shouldn’t and I’m, in formal writing.
Secondly, you shouldn’t use first person
narrative in academic writing. In example, words such as I, me, we, us etc.
should be removed from academic writing.
Furthermore, you should describe
the theory you used for your analysis. Because people who do not have the same
knowledge on the subject should also be able to understand your paper.
Another tip, the subject has to be clear for
the reader, by only reading your introduction and your conclusion. The introduction is a preview on what your
paper is going to look like. You shortly write about your analysis and tell the
audience what you will discuss in the other paragraphs. Your conclusion has to
be short and clear. The conclusion should be an easy read. A mistake commonly
made when writing a conclusion is that all the results and things that went wrong are
described again in the conclusion. What should be included in the conclusion is
the answer to the main question of the paper.
These
were all the tips I could think of at this moment. I sincerely hope I have
helped you on your way to writing a great academic paper. If I come up with
more tips I will let you know. I would love to read your paper when it’s
finished.
Yours sincerely,
Baukje van der Meijden
Hello Baukje,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYour structure is good. I think that your grammar is good. The introduction is a little bit informal. In your blog you say: in example, I think it is for example. The punctation is also good. :)
